How many participants do we need?
For a reliable evaluation, I recommend at least 20 representative users. Only from this order of magnitude can stable patterns in grouping logic be recognized.

Yes, there are lean digital tools for remote card sorting. This saves travel costs and allows broader geographic coverage of different locations or roles.
What is the difference between card sorting and a pure expert review?
An expert review evaluates the interface from the perspective of experienced designers. Card sorting, on the other hand, shows how actual users understand structures – often with surprising results that refute internal assumptions.
