When should usability tests be conducted?
Ideally before the development of new features to avoid misdevelopment. Usability tests are also valuable for existing systems to identify concrete pain points.
How many testers do we need?
Already 5–8 representative users uncover most critical usability problems. For specialized B2B systems, it can make sense to specifically cover more roles.
Do the tests take place remotely or on-site?
Both are possible. Remote tests are more efficient and scalable; on site, however, work context and environmental influences can be better captured.
Do our developers have to be present during the tests?
Not mandatory, but recommended. When developers directly see where users fail, understanding for necessary changes increases significantly.
